Description
A project for the NACS Show (National Association of Convenience Stores and Petroleum Retailers), an annual trade show which also happens to sponsor a political action comittee to represent their members' business interests.
I used photos from the internet to create the cut files and assembly layouts. It took about four weeks and the help of about six friends to complete the construction.
Made to be disassembled for storage and transport, the dome is intended to serve as a show piece at their P.A.C. booth for at least the next decade.
Even at 9 ft.diameter and 16 ft. height, the lightweight plywood construction kept the total weight under 400 lbs.
The pedestal (built by Freeman Decorating Services) was 12 ft. tall, and included an illuminated graphic on the underside of the platform so that people could look up and see a simulated view of the interior of the dome.
